Ralph would love to do some occasional gardening in or around Hebden Bridge. Ralph combines heavy gardening with German efficiency and a sense for beauty for £12,-/ hour.
Ralph has a background as a town planner in Germany. He found a more simple life style in England: since 1997 in Cambridge (working as home carer in the morning and as self employed gardener in the afternoons),
including weeding, tree pruning and shaping, hedge trimming, lawn mowing, landscaping, levelling lawn and slabs etc. Since September 2012 Ralph lives in Hebden Bridge.
He is also a thorough cleaner and "man about the house", including painting, tiling, simple carpentry and maintenance, cleaning gutters and willing to get his hands dirty for any odd job.

Why Vitalija and Ralph wanted to move from Cambridge to Hebden Bridge top of page
We have decided to follow what we feel like guidance and want to move from Cambridge (our home for 16 years) to the Hebden Bridge area in Calderdale, West Yorkshire in September 2012.
Our friend and landlord wants more space in our house with his partner,
so he asked us to move out. We feel it's probably a blessing in disguise.
We both love mountains and miss a hilly landscape in Cambridge.
We discovered, that some of our dear Dances of Universal Peace friends live in or around the Calderdale area. We visited them, and we were welcomed with open arms and open hearts. When we visited Hebden Bridge, both of us felt very happy there - and everyone tells us, that Hebden Bridge would be the ideal place for us.
What really matters in life for us is the heart - so we hope to find some real heart connections.
2012 is the year of big changes...
We are excited - and a bit sad to leave behind some friends, home care clients, gardening customers, several peace dancers, the house cat Felix and the re-designed garden.
And we are a bit tense: we have hardly any savings, no home and no work (yet) in Calderdale.
We started packing, radical de-cluttering and re-writing CVs...
If you like to help us, please send your positive thoughts / wishes / prayers, that we'll find the right work and place to live.
Any help or hints from you is appreciated.
We are both open to new and unexpected turns in our lives.
Ralph & Vitalija, September 2012
from "The Glass Bead Game"
by the German poet Hermann Hesse
"As every blossom fades
and all youth sinks into old age,
so every life's design,
each flower of wisdom,
every good attains its prime
and cannot last forever.
In life, each call the heart
must be prepared courageously
without a hint of grief,
submit itself to other new ties.
A magic dwells in each beginning,
tells us how to live.
High purposed we must traverse
realm on realm,
cleaving to none as to a home,
the world of spirit
wishes not to fetter us
but raise us higher,
step by step.
Scarce in some safe
accustomed sphere of life
have we establish a house,
then we grow lax;
only he who is ready
to journey forth
can throw old habits off.
Maybe death's hour too
will send us out new-born
maybe life's call to us
will never find an end ...
Courage my heart,
take leave and fare thee well."
